Hockney, David f. 1937, brittisk målare, grafiker och fotograf, som bor och verkar i Kalifornien. Utbildad vid Royal college of Art i London. Hans verk är mestadels personliga och självbiografiska, av vilka målningarna av swimmingpooler i Los Angeles är bland hans mest kända verk. Han blev förknippad med popkonsten, men hans tidiga verk uppvisar också expressionistiska element inte olika Francis Bacons verk. Som grafiker arbetade han främst med litografi och hans första stora projekt var en serie med 16 etsningar, där han där han självbiografiskt avbildar Hogarths Rake’s Progress. Som fotograf arbetade han främst med fotocollage under åren 1970-1986.
